Tianjin Yangliuqing Ancient Town renowned for cultural heritage

Yangliuqing is an ancient town located in Xiqing District of Tianjin. It is known for its rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions, particularly in the fields of painting, calligraphy, and New Year woodblock paintings.

The ancient town was included on the list of national-level tourist areas attracting visitors and cultural enthusiasts from home and abroad.

The town dates back over 1,400 years and was once an important commercial hub along the Grand Canal.

During the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, with the development of river transportation and trade, Yangliuqing became rich and heavily populated. Over the years, the town has developed its artistic traditions, with many famous painters and calligraphers hailing from the area.

New Year woodblock paintings are among the highlights of Yangliuqing's culture. They are famous in China and are still produced today using traditional techniques.

Additionally, visitors can have a glimpse of the Yangliuqing section of the Grand Canal, which is on UNESCO's World Heritage list.
