LG Electronics Tianjin Appliance Co., of China, is recalling nearly ten thousand portable dehumidifiers due to a possible fire and burn hazards. The power connector for the compressor could short circuit, causing the risk.
The recall involves 30 pint humidifiers sold under the Goldstar (sold at Home Depot and Walmart) and Comfort-Aire (sold at Heat Controller, Inc.) brand names. They were sold from January 2007 to June 2008 for between $140 and $150.Â
If you think you have this product in your home please read the entire LG Electronics dehumidifier recall notice, which includes specific model and serial numbers of the affected products, as well as pictures of each model. Consumers should stop using the dehumidifiers right away and contact GE to arrange for a free repair at a GE service center.
