Tianjin will establish an official work group for building a low-carbon city to make the 12th Five-Year Low-Carbon Development Special Plan, according to Tianjin Development and Reform Commission.
Tainjin was chosen as one of the low-carbon pilot cities by National Development and Reform Commission on August 10.
In order to become a low-carbon city, Tianjin will enhance the use of clean energies like wind, solar energy, geothermal energy and biomass energy. Half of Tianjin household garbage will be burned to yield electricity, with a generating capacity amounting to 190 million kilowatt-hours. Forest planting will help the city landscaping ratio rise to 38.5 percent. In the future, Tianjin will unveil more supporting policies on developing high added-value and environmental industries.
A low-carbon city is characterized by low pollution, low emissions and high efficiency. The three key steps are: using clean energy more and improving efficiency; develop the service industry; and promote environment-friendly consumption.
