The 2024 World Congress on Internal Combustion Engines, kicked off in the northern Chinese municipality of Tianjin on Saturday and will run until Monday.
With the theme "Green, Reliable, Intelligent, Efficient", the event was jointly organized by the Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines and Tianjin University.
Drawing nearly 40 academicians from China and abroad, along with scientists, entrepreneurs and technology workers from over 20 countries, the congress aimed to deliberate on the future development of internal combustion engines in the context of "dual carbon" challenges — China vows to reach its carbon emissions peak before 2030 and becoming carbon neutral before 2060.
Participants unanimously acknowledged the indispensable role of internal combustion engines in driving global energy transformation and promoting economic and social development. They emphasized the potential revitalization of the internal combustion engine industry through the use of carbon-neutral and zero-carbon fuels.
