The Airbus China Tianjin Campus has achieved certification according to the ISO 14001 standard for environmental management systems.

This international standard requires organizations to develop an integrated, structured approach in keeping compliance with regulatory requirements, prevent pollution and continuously promote environmental performance.

In Tianjin, China, the recent certification covers two Airbus's subsidiaries, Airbus A320 Family Final Assembly Line and Airbus (Tianjin) Delivery Centre.

"For Airbus, environment is a top priority. The aviation industry contributes to the global effort for a greener world. ISO 14001 is now part of Airbus' culture. We were pioneers in our sector applying this standard and we are very proud of the achievements," SVP of Public Affairs Dr. Rainer Ohler said.

As a precursor to these awards, preparatory certification audits for Airbus China Tianjin Campus were conducted by Bureau Veritas Certification, an independent third-party registrar.

In March 2009, Airbus China Beijing Campus achieved the ISO 14001 certification, which covered all subsidiaries of Airbus in Beijing, including Airbus China Limited Beijing Representative Office, Hua-Ou Aviation Training Centre, Hua-Ou Aviation Support Centre, and Airbus (Beijing) Engineering Centre.

In Jan 2007, Airbus became the first aerospace company in the world to receive ISO 14001 "full life-cycle approach" environmental certification.

Initially, compliance focused on the 16 production sites, including Airbus's headquarters in Toulouse. Since early 2008, the program was expanded to target certification at Airbus's subsidiaries in Airbus China Beijing Campus and the United States.

Airbus, as a 100 percent subsidiary of EADS, shares the same environmental policy which applies eco-efficiency as a major goal and vision for the 2020 strategic roadmap.

The target is to maximize the benefits of aircraft products and services to customers and other stakeholders, while minimizing the environmental impact of operation and manufacturing these products through their life-cycle.
