Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) inked US $65.23 million joint deal with Tianjin Alstom Hydro and Hydrochina Zhongnan Engineering Corp.
As per the deal, both Tianjin Alstom Hydro and Hydrochina Zhongnan will offer electro-mechanical equipment and technical services to Huoi Quang hydroelectric power plant project. French Development Agency (AFD) is financing this deal. EVN will be the major investor with total investment capital of VND 11,772,994 billion. This power plant is Vietnam s third biggest underground construction project and fourth biggest hydroelectric power plant in northern region after Son La, Hoa Binh and Lai Chau plants. It is situated in Chieng Lao commune, in northern province of Son La. Once it gets operational, this plant will have design capacity of 520MW including two turbines and production capacity of about 1.904 billion kwh per annum. The first turbine is estimated to produce electricity on 31 December 2014 whereas other turbine on 30 April 2015.
