State-run Vietnam Electricity Group said Tuesday that it has awarded a $65 million contract to a consortium of Tianjin Alstom Hydro Co. and Hydrochina Zhongnan Engineering Corp. to supply and install equipment for a power plant project in Vietnam.

The consortium will supply electrical equipment for the construction of Huoi Quang hydropower plant in the northern province of Son La, the company said in a statement.
