Air China this week got the first of 19 Boeing 777-300ERs on order, making it the first airline on the Chinese mainland to fly the aircraft, Boeing announced Thursday.

“The introduction of this brand new aircraft is not only a milestone in the cooperation history between Boeing and Air China, but also an important symbol to deepen our relationship,” Air China Vice President Air ChinaHe Li said in a news release. “The 777-300ER will be the backbone of our long-haul international fleet in the coming years and enable us to fulfill our ambition to be a large network carrier with international competitiveness.”

Boeing is scheduled to deliver three more 777-300ERs to Air China this year.

Also Thursday, Boeing announced that GE Capital Aviation Services took delivery of its 400th Boeing jet on Wednesday. The airliner, a 737-800, is for China’s Xiamen Airlines.
